Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #236!!

It’s that time of week for another Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge!  Yes!!!!  I love using these sketches as often my creativity fails and I can’t come up with new designs.  These sketches are perfect.

I didn’t originally plan to go with a patriotic theme when I saw this sketch, but then everything came together in my head and you cardmakers know how that is, you just have to go with it!

One thing I love about cardmaking is how you can make beautiful cards without spending tons and tons of money on supplies.  There are so many great bargains and deals out there between Michaels, Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, and various online sites that you can slowly build up your supplies and have a great, variety of products to use.

The card above is a perfect example.  I found that great “You Rock.  Enough Said.” stamp at Joann’s last weekend on clearance for I believe $1 or less.  The star Darice embossing folder came from an absolutely fantastic sale on an online site buy one for $2.97 and get one free – yes I ordered 20!

And the corner designs are made with my new 3 in 1 punch that was already 30% off at Joann’s and I got another 20% on top of that, so it was like $6.

I sound like an advertisement for Budget Scrapbooking and Cardmaking, but let’s face it, we have to do our craft on a budget sometimes.

Hope you enjoy the card!!!

Happy cardmaking,

Operation Write Home – Sketch Challenge #235

Time once again for a wonderful Operation Write Home weekly Sketch Challenge – #235!!!!

Here is a little card I made for this challenge.  I figure it can be good for a birthday or really any celebration that someone is having!

owh235 I was eager to try out one of my new embossing folders that I recently bought from Consumer Crafts.  Ok, they were having a buy one get one free sale, so I actually bought 20 of them (oops, did I say that out loud! 🙂   The one I used for this card is the Crackle embossing folder . . . I like it, it is an interesting look.

Some patterned paper from Michael’s, copic markers, ribbon . . . and alas, my card for this week’s challenge.

Operation Write Home – Sketch Challenge #233

I haven’t been on this blog or making cards for a little while now and it is time to get back in the game.  It has been a mix of being busy (although I absolutely hate that excuse as everyone is busy) and just not feeling creative lately!

Well there is no better way to get back in the game than an Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge!!!  Here we go!

Here is the Sketch #233 that we are following this week.

And here is my Challenge card.

I thought that since it is summer . . . I was feeling something very bright, colorful, and cheery!  I made my own patterned paper for the focal image with stamps from Gina K’s Aloha stamp collection!  Love Gina K. – check her out if you haven’t already . .  www.ginakdesigns.com.

And the “With Love” on the side is from some new die cuts from Inspire by Spellbinders.  This was my first time trying them out and I love them.  They add a bit of dimension to the cards and are definitely something different!

I am putting this card in my next shipment to Operation Write Home!  Can’t wait.

Here is to more inspiration and creativity!

Operation Write Home – Midweek Throwdown Challenge “Punny”

Well it is Wednesday and time for the Operation Write Home Midweek Throw Down Challenge.  This weeks theme was to make something “punny”.  No problem!

I have been purposely trying to work on some general cards that are more appropriate for children for my next Operation Write Home shipment as I know there are a lot of kids out there missing their mommies and daddies away in the military!

I thought this little guy did the trick for this punny challenge . . . a little Bird-day card!

The image and the sentiment are from one of my favorite digital stamp places . . . Doodle Pantry!  If you haven’t checked them out, do so soon at doodlepantry.com.  She has the cutest digital stamps, lots of online freebies, more freebies when you place an order, and wonderful prices!  Can you tell I’m a huge fan!!

A little Cuddlebug embossing on some bright primary color cardstock and a couple of red pearl embellishments to finish it off!

I hope you enjoy it!

Happy crafting,

Operation Write Home “Card Bowl 2014” Challenge – Super Bowl Weekend

Okay, how much fun does this sound!  Operation Write Home is having a 3 day card challenge this weekend called CARD BOWL!

Here is  how it works (from operationwritehome.org):

Welcome to the 3-day Card Bowl Challenge! It’s Superbowl weekend, and we can’t let the men have all the fun, right?

Participate in challenges all three days by making a card and linking it up this weekend – and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a flat rate envelope filled with stampy goodness! Challenges can be completed anytime over the weekend – winners will be picked late Sunday night.

  1. Masculine Ode to the teams! Make a masculine card – for men, teens, or little boys – in any OWH-approved theme. And make your card somehow reflect either the Seahawks or Broncos. Use their colors, something about their city, their mascot – get creative! It doesn’t have to be a sports/football-related card. Inlinkz is below!
  2. Join in the ODBD challenge on this blog SATURDAY and make yours a masculine card. (Link up on that page.)
  3. Join in the Sunday Sketch challenge on this blog on SUNDAY and make yours a masculine card. (Link up on that page.)

And my card for # 1 is . . . (drum roll please!!!!!)

My own little version of Peyton Manning!

What I used:

* The Football Birdie digi stamp from my friends at Doodle Pantry!  I LOVE Doodle Pantry digi stamps, ADORABLE!  Visit them at doodlepantry.com

*  Football ribbon from Michael’s.  I love that Michael’s always has this great endcap of these great ribbons and they are only $1!!!!

*  A great football brad from one of my favorite brad places . . . Eyelet Outlet!  You have to check them out if you love using unique and creative brads.  Visit them at eyeletoutlet.com

*  The green football paper at the bottom is a digipaper that you get as part of the download with the Football Birdie digistamp at Doodle Pantry!  The sentiment as well as others also come with that download!!

* some simple blue, orange, and black cardstock

So much fun, I think I will have to make one now for the Seattle Seahawks!  After all . . . don’t want to show favoritism.  (For the record, I am a huge Packer fan, therefore there may be a green and gold one in my future 🙂

Happy creating,

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #200

It’s that time of the week again for an Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge!

Here is this week’s sketch.

And here is my take on this particular sketch.

owh13I went with a bright, fun Birthday card for this challenge as I feel those are always a good option to send to our soldiers for OWH!

Some great patterned paper from a pad I got from Michaels, a great sentiment I found through the blog Free Digital Stamps (if you don’t know about this great blog that sends you a list of free digital stamps everyday that you can download into your collection, please check it out at freedigitalstamps.blogspot.com), a fun button embellishment, . . .

Hope you enjoy it,
