Challenge: “Less is More” Animal Challenge

Hi fellow crafters and cardmakers,

I have really been enjoying looking at many new card blogs in the last few days.  I have seen many absolutely beautiful cards of all different styles.  I have also been enjoying getting to see different card challenges that are out there . . . and there are so many good ones.

Today I came across this great card challenge blog called “Less Is More”

Please check them out if you get a chance.  They feature card challenges that focus on exactly that – Less is More – so clean and simple (CAS) designs and layouts, simple layering, not many embellishments.  I really enjoy making this clean style of cards, because they can be so beautiful and so elegant.

Anyway this weeks challenge theme is “Animals”.

Here is my cute fishy . . .

fishy Design products and elements:

*  Cuttlebug embossing folder

*  fish digi stamp from Doodle Pantry at doodlepantry.com (LOVE THEM!!)

* copic markers

* simple orange ribbon

*  digi stamp of speech bubbles which I then stamped “Hello” in

Check out this great “Less Is More” blog . . . you won’t be disappointed.

Happy crafting,

Heather

Cards in Envy “Toes in the Sand Beach Card” Challenge Card #3

Hello fellow cardmakers,

While I was looking through the beautiful cards on the most recent Operation Write Home Challenge I was visiting different card blogs and ran into some new card challenges and card challenge sites I knew nothing about!!! So glad I found them.

One of them is wonderful website Cards in Envy! Visit them if you haven’t already.

They host new card challenges every couple of weeks and the current challenge happens to be a Toes in the Sand Beach Card Challenge. How fun!

I am going to challenge myself to do more challenges . . . mainly to improve my cardmaking skills and see some of the many, many beautiful cards that are out there. Wow, when I see some of these cards, mine pale in comparison.

Well, here is the third of my 3 entries (I hope I’m doing it right, I believe the rules said we can do 3 entries per challenge) 🙂

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #236!!

OWHbadge2

It’s that time of week for another Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge!  Yes!!!!  I love using these sketches as often my creativity fails and I can’t come up with new designs.  These sketches are perfect.

I didn’t originally plan to go with a patriotic theme when I saw this sketch, but then everything came together in my head and you cardmakers know how that is, you just have to go with it!

One thing I love about cardmaking is how you can make beautiful cards without spending tons and tons of money on supplies.  There are so many great bargains and deals out there between Michaels, Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, and various online sites that you can slowly build up your supplies and have a great, variety of products to use.

The card above is a perfect example.  I found that great “You Rock.  Enough Said.” stamp at Joann’s last weekend on clearance for I believe $1 or less.  The star Darice embossing folder came from an absolutely fantastic sale on an online site buy one for $2.97 and get one free – yes I ordered 20!

And the corner designs are made with my new 3 in 1 punch that was already 30% off at Joann’s and I got another 20% on top of that, so it was like $6.

I sound like an advertisement for Budget Scrapbooking and Cardmaking, but let’s face it, we have to do our craft on a budget sometimes.

Hope you enjoy the card!!!

Happy cardmaking,

Heather
